Missing teeth can often cause cosmetic and functional issues. Unfortunately if you have lost a single tooth the prospect of wearing a removable denture is not very pleasant. Even dental bridges that are fixed in place are not ideal as you will need to rely on another tooth in the mouth to hold the false tooth in place. This can often lead to destruction of the anchor tooth aswell.
Dental Implants are the gold standard in replacing missing teeth! They are a completely fixed solution and will restore your bite and smile.
If you have several missing teeth a dental implant bridge is a perfect way to replace multiple missing teeth to provide you a fixed, permanent solution. Dental Implant bridges can be used to replace only a few missing teeth or even a full mouth of missing teeth. You will get a great cosmetic result and also improved function overall restoring your confidence. If you have been suffering from loose, unstable dentures then dental implants could be the solution for you. The main problem with dentures is that they rely on a few of your remaining teeth or just the gums alone to hold them in place. I often use the analogy of trying to hang a picture on the wall. If you simply place the picture on the wall without any fixings it will fall straight off. Using one of the popular fixative gels that are available in supermarkets can be compared to attaching the picture using blu-tac or glue. This may hold the picture in place for a short while but any pressure (such as biting on the denture) can dislodge the picture. The only definitive way to the fix the picture to the wall will be to hang the picture on a fixed screw. Implant dentures can be secured by using as little as two implants in the lower jaw and four implants in the upper jaw. Often your current denture can be adapted and can give you the confidence to bite back into your favourite foods and smile with pride.
This advanced treatment will completely rehabilitate your oral health, whether you have already lost all of your teeth or even if you still have your own teeth in place. By having our state of the art, onsite dental laboratory we can provide your new fixed teeth on the same day that you have your dental implants placed.
Many of our patients have who want dental implants still have some of there own teeth in place. If they are failing and cannot be saved we may be able able to extract the teeth and place the implants at the same time to reduce the amount of surgery you require.
Our in-house technicians can then start work on making a new set of teeth which could be attached in just a few hours later. We make it our priority to ensure that you are comfortable and relaxed throughout the day. Remember there are usually various treatment options for most patients so its is important to have a full assessment with one of our dentists.
Your health is of paramount importance to us so we will take the time necessary to give you all the available options to allow you to make an informed choice.
It is completely normal to feel nervous about undertaking a dental implant procedure. We strive to ensure that our patients are made to feel very comfortable and have a completely painless treatment.
However if you are particularly anxious we are able to provide oral or intravenous sedation to make you feel more at ease. Many very phobic patients who have previously avoided the dentist have been able to successfully complete treatment with sedation.
